Compliance to Statutory Laws

I was reminded of this article which I have written about many years ago when I attended some product presentations about variable speed drives.

What catch my attention most was the closing words of the presenter that he just hate AS 3000 because most of his clients want him to comply with that standard, which is of course also a statutory law, with regards to his variable speed drive products.

I have been rushing to leave the venue that is why I did not have time to argue with his statement. Not complying with AS 3000 is like putting a rope up in a tree to hang yourself. Whether you like it or not, you need to comply with the law even if it will make your product more complicated. In this long term, your life will be easier.

It's just like not complying with NFPA 70 (NEC) when you are in the US or PEC if you are in the Philippines.
